One Whole Month!

Baby girl is one month old already! I was rereading my last blog post the other day and am a little embarrassed at how negative it sounded. I suppose it's okay to let the world know that everything's not always perfect in the Perkins house, right? Right. But I can honestly say that things are already getting better. Elsie has given me one four-hour stretch of sleep for the last six nights in a row! After that she's up every two hours. And during the day she's all over the place but that one four-hour window is wonderful! She's finally happy sleeping in her crib. I'm finally figuring her out a little more and what makes her happy, but she still loves to cry a lot when she's awake. She giving us some big smiles already. I think she knew that mama really needed those so she started giving them to us a little earlier than expected. She loveds big brother. Sometimes she'll be screaming her head off and Owen will come up to give her a hug (which looks an awful lot like he's just laying on top of her if you're not watching too carefully) but Elsie will immediately calm down and stare straight at him for a little bit. She will eat all day long if you let her. I was going crazy nursing her so much because she wouldn't take a bottle from daddy but I finally convinced her that bottles are okay too. Thank heavens! Her eyes are officially turning blue...yay! She loves wearing headbands. Okay, fine...I love how cute she is wearing headbands. Even if I don't take a shower one day, Elsie gets dressed and gets a headband on! She hates the bouncy seat and the swing but likes just laying on a blanket on the floor, which I find totally weird. We can tell that she's seeing a lot better now but she still gets cross-eyed when she's concentrating on something really hard...it's pretty funny! We're definitely hoping that the pediatrician is right when he says that her eyes will stop doing that by 3 months. She's super warm and cuddly and has very soft, smooth skin (something that Owen never had) and we love her more and more every day! It seems crazy that just a month ago we were meeting her for the first time.

Took her for her first "hike" (more like an easy walk) and she loved it. She slept the whole time!
